Olev Muska

Olev Muska is an Australian-Estonian composer, producer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work fuses electronic experimentation with deep cultural roots. Since the late 1970s, he has been reshaping traditional melodies through early synths, sampling, and digital manipulation. His landmark 1985 album Old Estonian Waltzes was Estonia’s first electronic folk release, blending traditional dance music with precise, computer-sequenced composition.

Beyond his solo work, Muska co-founded the vocal-electronic ensemble Kiri-uu, merging folk traditions with cutting-edge digital processing. His career spans film soundtracks, multimedia installations, and sound design, always pushing the limits of technology and storytelling. A restless innovator, Muska continues to experiment with new sonic textures, reimagining music through modular synthesis, algorithmic composition, and digital manipulation.
